Eagle Scout: Your Path with Troop 436
Follow this step‑by‑step guide to plan, approve, and complete your Eagle Scout Service Project — and finish the remaining requirements for the Eagle rank.
Project Steps
Discuss Your Idea
Meet with the Scoutmaster and Troop leaders to discuss a project idea that fits your interests and skills. Obtain early buy‑in from the Beneficiary, Scoutmaster, and Troop Committee. You may not begin work yet; this is planning only.
Download the Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook
Save the modifiable PDF to your computer and read the instructions throughout. If fundraising is required, complete the Fundraising Application and have the Beneficiary sign. You will need Beneficiary signatures again later.
Complete the Proposal Section & Present
Draft the Proposal portion of the workbook and review it with the Troop Eagle Advancement Coordinator (currently Mr. Escudero). Get the Beneficiary’s signature, then present to the Troop Committee. Wear full Class A uniform. Secure signatures from the Troop Committee Chair and Scoutmaster; the Scoutmaster also signs the fundraising application if needed.
District Adviser Approval
Contact the Troop Eagle Advancement Coordinator for the Skylands River District Advancement Chair, who assigns your District Eagle Adviser. Meet to review the workbook; make any required edits. When the Adviser signs, your project is fully approved. Only then may you start work or fundraising.
Execute the Project & Document Everything
Complete the project as planned while adapting to real‑world changes. Track hours, funds, and take photos. Keep receipts organized for your final report.
After the Project
Scoutmaster Conference
Schedule your conference with the Scoutmaster. Wear full Class A uniform. Be ready to recite the Scout Oath, Law, Slogan, and Motto, and pass a uniform inspection.
Eagle Rank Application
Complete the application with dates for all rank advancements, 14 Eagle‑required merit badges, 7 electives, and leadership positions. The Troop Advancement Coordinator (currently Ms. Plaunt) can print your official advancement report from Scoutbook.
Board of Review Preparation
Attach a statement of ambitions and life purpose and a leadership résumé.
Final Council Review & Board of Review
Bring your completed Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook and Eagle Scout Rank Application to Patriots’ Path Council (Cedar Knolls, NJ). After Council approval, coordinate with Mr. Escudero to schedule your Board of Review.
